Citroen aims new C4 Picasso at top spot

CASCAIS, Portugal -- Citroen CEO Frederic Banzet believes the new C4 Picasso will outshine rivals to top Europe's compact minivan segment.

"The C4 Picasso offers novel features not found in other minivans," Banzet said at the vehicle's press launch here.

The C4 Picasso is a key launch for Citroen. The minivan delivers a high profit margin and is also the first vehicle underpinned by parent PSA/Peugeot-Citroen's Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2).

Among the "novel" features Banzet was referring to is "360 Vision," which uses four cameras to provide different views around the car to help parking.

The car also has a sophisticated, easy-to-use infotainment system that offers downloadable apps and two separate screens on the dashboard.

One screen is a 12-inch console displaying navigation and vehicle-related information, as well as personal photos that can be uploaded from a USB key. The other is a 7-inch touchpad used for adjusting heat and air conditioning, audio and telephone functions. The touchpad can also serve as a second screen for navigation.

The latest C4 Picasso is 140kg lighter than the car it replaces, largely due to the new platform, which uses aluminum, high-strength steel and a composite rear floor.

Currently the C4 Picasso/ C4 Grand Picasso ranks fifth in sales in Europe's compact minivan segment (see chart below).

A reduced front overhang helps to make the minivan 40mm shorter at 4430mm than the outgoing model but its wheelbase is 55mm longer, which gives the car a spacious interior. Luggage space has grown by 40 liters to 537 liters, expanding up to 630 liters with the rear seats pushed forward.

The C4 Picasso is available with two gasoline and two diesel engines. The most fuel-efficient unit, a diesel mated to a six-speed automated manual transmission, has CO2 emissions of 98 grams per kilometer.

The five-seat C4 Picasso's summer introduction in Europe will be followed by the market launch of a seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso after its debut at the Frankfurt auto show in September.

E ceva ce imi place si ceva ce nu...
Luminile de zi sus si farurile jos, grila parca e prea sus, dar per total, de la ditanta arata bine.

Eu inca nu am reusit sa ma obisnuiesc cu noul bot.
Hayonul mi se pare ca e mai mic (adica are deschiderea mai mica), iar stopurile parca le-au pus acolo... sa fie. Nu urmeaza nici o linie. Mai mult imi placeau vechile stopuri cu fibra optica.
Insa, imi plac enorm jantele de pe masina din prezentarea video si am observat ca sunt in 5 prezoane
Un alt lucru care tine mai mult de ...confort sau fitze, dar mie imi place, il reprezinta ridicarea electrica a hayonului
In rest... mi se pare destul de inghesuit. Poate cand o sa-l vad live o sa-mi mai schimb parerile..

Nu am auzit/vazut daca au trecut pe suspensia H3 de la c5

Eu am trecut pe la Cartec sa ridic o piesa si am gasit noul Picasso (5 locuri) expus acolo in showroom. Era o varianta mai cojita si poate si de aceea nu m-a impresionat asa de tare. M-am urcat in el, am studiat portbagajul si m-am invartit de cateva ori pe langa el. Cu botul nici eu nu m-am obisnuit inca. Mi se pare destul de ciudat, mai degraba a parodie. Nu pare masina serioasa. Nu-s un fan al variantei in 5 locuri. Grand-ul as vrea sa-l vad dar sa fie Exclusive.
Suspensia mai mult ca sigur tot pe aer a ramas.

Cred ca are mare succes masina asta, cel putin in UK, deja am vazut o gramada pe strada.
Dar sunt doua modele? Am vazut si modelul cu stopuri de golf si un model cu altfel de stopuri?!
